Our Work
The Remy Hidalgo Foundation’s funds go toward providing schools and athletic programs with essential items. These include valuable resources like WBGT and large, 150-gallon tubs that are specifically designed to be used for cooling players down after intense physical activities, as well as various other safety equipment necessary to ensure the well-being of young athletes. To date, they have generously donated a total of 30 tubs and 10 WBGT to numerous programs, helping countless students. In addition to this, the foundation is continuously exploring new avenues to support schools, aiming to broaden their reach and make an even greater impact on the community. It is their vision to inspire a safe and nurturing environment in which all students can thrive, both academically and athletically, through their comprehensive support initiatives.

Cold Tubs
Installed tubs help treat heat stroke fast.

WBGT Devices
Measures heat stress to prevent emergencies.
It is vital to cool a heat stroke victim immediately on-site before transport because rapid cooling is the most critical intervention to prevent permanent organ damage and death.
"Cool First, Transport Second"
NO EXCEPTIONS!
Time is Critical: When a person's core body temperature reaches dangerous levels (104°F or higher), irreversible cell and organ damage (brain, heart, kidneys, liver) can begin within a 30-minute window.
Transport Causes Delays: The time it takes to call an ambulance, for EMS to arrive, and to transport the patient to a hospital often exceeds this 30-minute window, resulting in worse outcomes.
Cooling is Definitive Care: For heat stroke, immediate, rapid cooling is considered the definitive treatment, which can be started in the field. Rapid cooling within this critical timeframe can cut the risk of fatality from more than 50% to less than 5%.
Improved Outcomes: When aggressive cooling, such as cold water immersion, begins promptly, victims often recover quickly with little to no long-term complications.
Therefore, the priority is to begin effective cooling measures immediately, ideally using cold water immersion, and only transport the patient after their core temperature has been lowered to a safer level (around 102.2°F or 39°C).
